What Is A Legacy Film?

A Legacy Film is a biographical documentary, similar to those you'd find on Netflix; but instead of being about a famous person, it's about a regular person who's still alive. Most commonly it's about someone nearly or already retired, and the film looks back over their lives and accomplishments, with the same care and attention that traditional documentary films give to their famous subjects.


Families, friends and colleagues are interviewed, old footage is discovered and revived, and a living portrait is created, suitable for showing in a theater, or passing down to a select group - a true legacy for family and friends.

What Is The Process Of A Legacy Film?

  • Consultation Phone/Video Call: Discuss the scope and purpose of project. Roughly 15-30 minutes.
  • Pre-Interview: In-person meeting with interviewer to review important stories to be covered while filming.
  • Interview Filming: Includes filming up to two hours in length with two cameras, professional lighting and audio equipment.
  • Interview Editing: Includes editing between two cameras, plus audio and color correction and removal of significant dead time during interview.
  • Film Editing: Consolidate interview to roughly 45-60 minutes. Includes removal of filler language and adding photos and music for creative impact.
  • Lifestyle Footage: Includes up to one hour of filming client lifestyle footage (i.e. participating in favorite hobbies, spending time with family, glamour footage, etc.) to be added to film for creative impact.
  • Photos Added: Up to 40 photos printed and filmed on a creative backdrop and up to 50 additional photos digitally scanned, to be added to film in editing.
  • Digital & DVD Blue Ray Delivery: Includes delivery of interview and polished film on USB stick and private YouTube link, plus polished film on up to five DVD or Blue-ray discs.

About Our Legacy Film Package

A Legacy Film package includes an up-to-two-hour interview in its entirety, plus a raw or polished film up to sixty minutes in length delivered via USB stick, private YouTube link, and up to five DVD or Blu-ray discs. Can include additional lifestyle footage of client and creative treatment of photos added to film. Price includes travel costs for both interviewer and filmmaker anywhere within the contiguous United States.

  • How long does the process take?

    The average turnaround time from interview to finished manuscript is typically 4-6 months. However, it can be much quicker and is highly dependent on the speed of client’s remittance of assets (photos and outside videos) to include in the video.

  • What is the payment structure for this project?

    1. Initial Deposit: 25% of quoted price due at contract signing.


    2. 2nd Payment: 15% due two weeks before project date


    3. 3rd Payment: 15% due on project date


    4. 4th Payment: 15% due one month after project date


    5. 5th Payment: 15% due two months after project date


    6. Final Payment: 15% due three months after project date
